Interim CEO appointed by Nampak following resignation of Smuts

Nampak, one of Africa’s leading packaging company has announced that Erik Smuts, CEO of the company has resigned and will be succeeded, on an interim basis, by current restructuring committees chairperson, Phildon Roux.

 

Nampak reports that after a substantial restructuring process, which included disposing of noncore assets and unprofitable operations, the CEO’s role changed significantly, prompting Smuts’ resignation.

 

Roux will take over as interim CEO from the same day until Nampak appoints a permanent CEO.

 

The company is confident in Roux’s ability to use his extensive operational and strategic experience in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, as well as his proven skills in organisational turnarounds, to achieve the goals of Nampak’s restructuring plan and create value for shareholders while ensuring the company’s long-term sustainability.
