Jindal Films unveils New PP Mono-Material Barrier Solution for HFFS at CFIA 2024

Latest PP mono-material barrier solution.

Jindal Films, a leading global manufacturer of specialty BOPP and BOPE films for flexible packaging and labeling, has announced the development of PP mono-material and PE mono-material solutions in response to the upcoming guidelines for mechanical recycling in Europe.

During the CFIA tradeshow in Rennes (FR), Jindal Films is introducing BICOR™ 25 and 30 MBH568 films, clear barrier films designed for use as single webs at high speeds on HFFS packaging machines. These films utilize a new barrier coating technology along with Jindal Films’ VLTS seal technology. MBH568 grades are positioned as substitutes for films using PVdC coating, offering equivalent WVTR, OTR, aroma barrier, and surface printable properties.

The new BICOR™ MBH568 films boast high gloss, stable slip and barrier properties, great scuff resistance, and resistance to alcohol spraying, commonly used in some baked goods packaging. They also feature higher stiffness compared to most barrier OPP films of equivalent thickness, potentially aiding end-users in reducing their virgin plastic usage for HFFS single web market segments.

“We are pleased to introduce our latest PP mono-material barrier solution at CFIA 2024,” said a representative from Jindal Films. “Our new films not only meet the evolving regulatory requirements for mechanical recycling in Europe but also offer enhanced performance and sustainability benefits for our customers.”

The PP mono-material composition of MBH568 films (≥95% polypropylene) aligns with the CEFLEX design guidelines for a circular economy, further emphasizing Jindal Films’ commitment to sustainable packaging solutions.
