KBA starts building demo centre

Facility to open as firm marks 200th anniversary

Germany  As Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) prepare to celebrate its 200th anniversary in September 2017, the foundations have ben laid at its Würzburg parent plant for a new digital and flexographic press demo centre.

With a usable area of about 2,100m² and modernised premises of 21,164m³, the centre involves an investment totalling EUR6m (including technical infrastructure but not demo presses).

It is the latest in a series of new buildings at the Würzburg site, following a new logistics centre and design building in 2001, two new production halls in 2003 and 2008, and a newfoundry in 2012.

At the foundation laying event KBA chairman ClausBolza-Schünemann spoke on the contraction of mediafocused print markets and the successful realignment of KBA Group towards growth sectors like packaging, digital, and industrial functional printing.

Seventy percent of the group’s new press revenue is generated in the packaging sector, which continues to grow.
