L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty and Aster Pharmacy have signed a sustainability partnership in Dubai to expand the availability of refillable skincare products across selected pharmacy stores in the UAE, with a phased rollout planned for 2027.
The agreement covers products from La Roche-Posay, Vichy and CeraVe, with the initial rollout focusing on Aster Pharmacy’s top 10 stores, including locations at Dubai Mall and Marina The Pointe.
The partnership will increase the availability of refill formats and improve their visibility through in-store product displays. Beauty advisers from both companies will also provide customers with information about refill options and their use.
Refill formats can reduce packaging consumption compared with conventional packaged products. However, the companies said specific plastic savings figures would be provided only when verified product-level data becomes available.
The agreement also establishes a target for 75% of point-of-sale materials to be eco-designed by 2027. Both companies will work on improved demand forecasting and stock planning to minimise product waste.
Laurent Duffier, CEO of L’Oréal Middle East, said the partnership would bring sustainable skincare options into everyday retail environments through greater refill availability and customer guidance.
The initiative supports L’Oréal for the Future, the company’s global sustainability programme. By 2030, L’Oréal aims to reduce virgin plastic use in packaging by 50% in absolute terms compared with 2019, source 50% of packaging materials from recycled or biobased sources, and reduce packaging intensity by 20%.
The collaboration also builds on Aster Pharmacy’s Go Green Carry Clean campaign, which encourages paper and reusable shopping bags instead of single-use plastics.
Additionally, the partners will explore cancer awareness and patient support initiatives through La Roche-Posay’s Fight with Care programme.
