Morocco has hosted a trade mission of 31 Egyptian companies from the food, printing and packaging sectors, as both countries seek to expand bilateral trade and business partnerships.

The mission was organised by the Egyptian Food Export Council in cooperation with the Egyptian Embassy in Morocco, the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority, Morocco’s National Food Safety Authority, and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco.

The programme focused on identifying opportunities for Egyptian exporters in the Moroccan market, including partnerships with importers, distributors, retailers and food industry stakeholders.

The mission highlights the growing link between food exports and packaging supply. Egyptian converters could explore opportunities in printed films, labels, cartons, flexible packaging and other food packaging materials required by Moroccan manufacturers and distributors.

Participants were briefed on Morocco’s food industry, import requirements, health control regulations, customs procedures and trade agreements. The agenda also included insights into consumer preferences, retail trends, wholesale markets and distribution channels.

According to the Egyptian Food Export Council, Morocco is considered a strategic market for Egyptian food exports, with food imports valued at around USD 9.6 billion in 2024, representing about 13% of the country’s total imports.

The mission also included field visits to retail chains and commercial markets in Casablanca, followed by business-to-business meetings with Moroccan importers and buyers. The initiative reflects wider efforts to strengthen Egypt–Morocco trade cooperation while creating new opportunities for food, printing and packaging companies across North Africa.
