Omet seeks starring role in prints of Persia

Omet has set its sights on Iran, whose packaging printing market is showing “huge interest” in its technology, claims the Italian press manufacturer.

Following Omet’s participation in International Iran Print-Pack 2016 on 25-28 December in Teheran, Naim Yavuz, the company’s agent for Iran and Turkey, said the firm’s push into the market would include training in areas such as labelling.

“In the next five years this will be one of the most promising markets for Oment,” said Yavuz.

“We want to give our contribution to the growth and the spread of global standards in this area, by helping the local institutions with the promotion of technical and educational training concerning label printing technologies and processes.”

The first training sessions will cover anilox technology and die-cutting, with a focus on “problem solving”, said Omet.

Omet’s agent in Iran, Naem – Global Packaging Brand, has secured installations for 2017 and organised collaborations with local institutions for courses on business topics.

The 23rd edition of International Iran Print-Pack featured 520 exhibitors amid rising interest in the country’s potential with the relaxing of economic sanctions.

Omet also sponsors four scholarships for students on a label printing course organised by Iran Print Industry Exporters Union (IPIEU) in collaboration with the Color Research and Development Center of the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology as well as the Iranian Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Culture.

Lectures cover topics including labelling, resins, digital printing, colour management, and environmental sustainability. Students also tour companies operating in this sector.

The courses are accompanied by educational seminars on international business trends, organised by the Iranian Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Tarsus Group, the co-ordinator of Labelexpo.
