Prati plants trees in Kenya as part of Global Treedom initiative.

Roots of life: 930 trees planted in Kenya

Just when our planet needs everyone’s support, Prati has stepped right up. The Italy-based company has always paid close attention to sustainability, driving technological innovations to improve the efficiency of its solutions and, consequently, optimise energy consumption. For several years, Prati has been taking part in the global Treedom initiative.

Founded in Italy 10 years ago, Treedom helps populations in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Italy to plant fruit trees that contribute to the local economy and produce environmental and social benefits. The trees are purchased by companies and virtually donated to partners or customers as a sign of shared solidarity.

For example, the company has planted 930 trees of many species, such as calliandra, moringa, markhamia, guava, mango, avocado, grevillea, tephrosia, macadamia and banana in communities in Kenya. There have already been many beneficial effects reported, such as reduced air pollution, helping not only the geographical areas where trees are planted, but also the climate in general.

A reduction of some 371,900kg worth of CO2 emissions has been reported as a result. Certainly, the partners of the Faenza-based company will not taste the fruits of the trees planted by Prati in Kenya, but everyone – especially future generations – will benefit from this beautiful initiative. Since its foundation in 2010 in Florence, more than a million trees have been planted thanks to Treedom.

Thanks to its business model, in 2014 Treedom became part of the Certified B Corporations, a network of companies that stand out for high environmental and social performance. Every Treedom tree is geo-localised, photographed and has its own web page. It can be kept or virtually gifted to others. Thanks to these features, Treedom engages people at the same time as representing a great communication and marketing tool for companies. Founded in 1973, Prati is the third-longest running company in the self-adhesive finishing sector. In 1980 it began to make direct contact with the multitude of realities making up the complex world of printing, successfully interpreting, right from the start, the special needs of the self-adhesive label manufacturers.

In offering solutions that combine technological experience and know-how thanks to years of application in inspection machines and scrapers, the company has created innovative systems that immediately made their name on the Italian market, to then go on to win worldwide.
