Pusterla 1880 has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Sousse, Tunisia, strengthening its production footprint in the Mediterranean region and expanding capacity for luxury secondary packaging.

The new site represents an initial investment of €4 million, with a further €3 million planned for future expansion. The facility is designed to serve global customers in sectors including beauty, fragrance, premium drinks, fashion and jewellery.

Located in Sousse, near Monastir, the plant combines semi-automated production lines with manual assembly capabilities. It will produce rectangular and round boxes, as well as specialist packaging formats such as advent calendars. The company said the facility has been developed with a focus on production quality, precision, training, workplace safety, sustainability and local skills development.

The site employs around 260 people. Together with Pusterla 1880’s existing Tunisian operation, the group’s workforce in the country now totals approximately 600 employees.

The investment forms part of Pusterla 1880’s wider international development strategy and reinforces Tunisia’s role in the company’s manufacturing network. The country’s proximity to Europe, industrial workforce and logistics links are expected to support the group’s ability to serve customers requiring flexibility, speed and consistent finishing standards.

The opening ceremony was attended by local and international representatives, including Andrea Prunas, Italy’s ambassador to Tunisia, and Mourad Fradi, president of the Tunisian Chamber of Commerce.

Nathan Fage, Business Development Manager at Pusterla 1880 UK, said Tunisia had become an important industrial location with strong links to Europe. He said the new facility would help the company match production capability to customer requirements while maintaining the quality expected by luxury brands.
