Sidel launches EvoDECO Next roll-fed labeller with up to 75% material reduction

Sidel has introduced EvoDECO Next, a next-generation roll-fed labelling system designed to enable partial-label decoration on PET bottles while reducing label material consumption and maintaining high-speed production performance.

The new platform allows beverage producers to replace conventional wraparound labels with smaller partial labels, exposing more of the bottle surface. According to Sidel, the technology can reduce label surface area by up to 75% with a 90° partial-label configuration, while a 180° configuration delivers a 50% reduction.

“EvoDECO Next rethinks what is possible with roll-fed labelling. Producers no longer need to choose between industrial efficiency, material reduction and impactful decoration,” said Anne Philippe Lafon, Product Manager – Labelling at Sidel.

In a production scenario modelled by Sidel, switching to 90° partial labels on a line operating at 61,000 bottles per hour could reduce annual BOPP consumption by 208.4 tonnes, associated CO₂ emissions by 346 tonnes and raw material costs by approximately €723,000.

EvoDECO Next incorporates several integrated technologies, including Cutter 2.0, Smart Buffer, Smart Camera and high-speed changeover components. The rotary cutting system, positioned directly on the transfer drum, processes shorter labels at high speed. Smart Buffer enables reel changes without reducing production speed, while Smart Camera eliminates the need for conventional reference marks and quiet zones.

Sidel says the redesigned changeover components, incorporating optimised sliding surfaces and an air-blade system, can extend machine autonomy by up to five times while minimising glue contamination and label stress. The platform can also integrate with Sidel’s CoboREEL automated reel-management system, supporting up to 18 reels, reduced operator intervention and embedded traceability.

The launch builds on Sidel’s installed base of more than 5,000 labelling machines worldwide, including over 330 EvoDECO units sold since the platform’s introduction.
