SOMA installs Optima flexo press at Shree Plast Industries

SOMA has completed the installation of its Optima flexo press at Shree Plast Industries, a packaging converter based in Satara, Maharashtra, India. The installation adds flexographic printing capacity to Shree Plast’s operations as the company continues to expand production to serve demand across multiple packaging segments.

Shree Plast produces laminated flexible packaging and printed poly films. Its customer base spans applications in food categories including bakery, dairy, snacks, and spices, alongside agro, industrial, fast-moving consumer goods, and pharmaceutical markets. The company also provides customised packaging solutions and multicolour printing services.

According to SOMA, the newly installed press is intended to support shorter setup times, lower material waste, and stable print output. The investment forms part of Shree Plast’s broader effort to increase production capability and operational performance.

Santosh Vaidya, director at Shree Plast Industries, said: “Our goal was to further strengthen print quality while increasing operational efficiency. SOMA’s Optima and its automation capabilities provide exactly that – a reliable, high-performance solution that supports our growth ambitions.”

Vaidya said the installation aligns with the company’s plans to strengthen manufacturing performance as volumes increase across end markets.

SOMA said the project reflects ongoing investment by regional converters in flexographic equipment as packaging producers seek to improve production processes and maintain competitiveness in changing market conditions.

The company stated that the installation also supports its presence in India where packaging manufacturers continue to expand converting capabilities in response to customer requirements and evolving production needs.

No additional technical specifications or financial details of the installation were disclosed in the announcement. Shree Plast did not indicate any changes to employment levels or future capital expenditure plans linked to the project at the time of publication and neither company provided a timeline for further equipment additions beyond the current installation announcement or disclosed production capacity figures publicly.
