Toblerone to drop ‘Switzerland’ from packaging

The chocolate was established in 1908 in the Tobler family factory

Mondelez International has announced that its brand, Toblerone will open a new production line in Slovakia by the end of next year.

 

The triangular chocolate manufacturer, Toblerone to drop “of Switzerland” from its packaging as it will no longer be exclusively produced in its home country from 2023. Mondelez has confirmed to open the new production line in Slovakia to respond to the growing demand.

 

The company told a news agency that it was continuing to invest in the Bern plant, which will eventually allow to manufacture millions of additional bars.

 

Mondelez stated, “For legal reasons, the changes we are bringing to our production require us to adjust our packaging to comply with the Swiss law, particularly to remove the word ‘Switzerland’ from the packaging front.”

 

Toblerone produces seven billion chocolate bars a year, with more than 95% exported to 120 countries.
