Veolia and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi collaborate to promote sustainable practices in UAE

Veolia and Sorbonne Abu Dhabi: Partnering for Sustainable Solutions.

 

Veolia, a leading company specializing in ecological transformation and providing solutions for water, waste, and energy management, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. The MoU aims to foster collaboration in research and academia, facilitate student internships, and promote research capacity building and development.

 

Philippe Bourdeaux, Director of the Africa – Near & Middle East delegated Zone at Veolia, and Professor Nathalie Martial-Braz, Vice-Chancellor of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, formalized the agreement on November 30, 2023, during COP28. The partnership, set to last for an initial term of five years, emphasizes joint efforts in sustainability and clean-energy initiatives.

 

The collaboration will include conferences, seminars, workshops, and other events focused on common interests surrounding sustainability and clean energy. Research will be a key area of focus, particularly in understanding recycling habits and practices among the UAE population to promote sustainable behaviors in urban and multicultural settings.

 

Philippe Bourdeaux expressed Veolia’s enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to contribute our expertise and collaborate with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi towards realizing a sustainable future for the region. This MoU will help researchers and students gain insights into global sustainability best practices and promote a circular economy in UAE society.”

 

Professor Nathalie Martial-Braz highlighted the strategic importance of sustainable economic models, stating, “Developing sustainable practices and ecological transformation aligns with our mission to exchange knowledge and create opportunities for students to develop their skills and expertise.”
