XSYS launches ThermoFlexX Catena-BE 48 for streamlined Flexo Plate processing

XSYS’s ThermoFlexX Catena-BE 48 eliminates operator intervention and optimizes efficiency and consistency.

XSYS has unveiled its latest innovation, the ThermoFlexX Catena-BE 48, designed to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in flexographic platemaking. This new system automates plate transfer between the TFxX 48 Imager and the Catena-E 48 LED exposure unit, eliminating the need for operator intervention and optimizing workflow efficiency and consistency.

The Catena-BE 48 integrates seamlessly with the TFxX 48 Imager through a bridge, allowing for a touch-free workflow. It employs a precision gripping system that ensures no waste of plate material during transport, contributing to a more sustainable process.

Bert Eeckhout, Product Manager XSYS PrePress, highlighted the benefits of this automation, stating, “The objective for the development of the Catena-BE 48 was to provide another automated solution that allows platemakers to take out manual steps in the process and thereby accelerate plate production. Reducing operator handling of plates minimizes the risk of accidental damage or misplacement and therefore prevents waste.”

By pre-loading and preparing the TFxX 48 Imager for the next job while the previous plate is transferred autonomously, the Catena-BE 48 not only saves time but also ensures that job presets are maintained, minimizing configuration errors. This allows operators to focus on other important aspects of the production process, aligning with lean manufacturing principles.

Customers using a ThermoFlexX TFxX 48 can upgrade to an automated imaging and exposing line by adding a Catena-BE 48, enhancing their capabilities and competitiveness in the market. This upgrade underscores XSYS’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the flexographic platemaking industry.
