Aptar has highlighted the role of its patented reloadable airless dispensing technology in supporting sustainability objectives in the luxury beauty packaging segment through its collaboration with Clarins.
The companies developed a custom reloadable airless packaging solution for Clarins Total Eye Lift Eye Cream, designed to support formula protection, dispensing precision and product presentation. According to Aptar, each refill purchased reduces the material impact of the packaging by 73%, including 50% less metal, 33% less plastic and 29% less cardboard compared to the previous Total Eye Lift packaging format.
The packaging solution received recognition at the 2026 DIELINE Awards, where Aptar Beauty secured first place in the Sustainable Design – Health, Body & Beauty category. The project was also recognised in 2025 with a Formes de Luxe Award in the Dispensing Category. The DIELINE award was presented during Luxe Pack New York and assessed across criteria including creativity, innovation, execution and branding.
The solution is based on Aptar Beauty’s patented Gaïa reloadable airless technology and combines a metal outer casing with replaceable plastic reloads. Aptar stated that the system is protected by two patents covering the reload mechanism and a double tamper seal system intended to support formula protection and reduce contamination risks.
“This recognition reflects our dedication to advancing product circularity through refillable and recyclable solutions, developed in close partnership with customers who share our vision for sustainable innovation,” said Ryan Kenny.
“This project showcases how custom-engineered, high-performance solutions can deliver both sustainability features and premium value for our customers,” said Xavier Joseph.
