Aptar expands e-commerce-ready closures portfolio for beauty, personal care and home care packaging

Aptar Closures has expanded its portfolio of e-commerce-ready closures for beauty, personal care and home care applications, responding to growing demand for packaging designed to withstand parcel shipping while reducing the need for additional packaging components.

The portfolio comprises four closure solutions—Embrace, E-Simplicity, Future Disc Top and E-Disc Top—developed to improve product protection during transport and support packaging requirements associated with online retail. Each closure has passed Amazon ISTA-6 robustness testing and is available in post-consumer recycled (PCR) material versions.

According to Aptar, e-commerce now accounts for nearly half of global beauty sales, while social media influences 68% of those purchases. The shift has increased demand for packaging capable of preventing leakage, accidental opening and transit damage without relying on additional secondary packaging. Environmental considerations are also influencing purchasing decisions, with 61% of global beauty shoppers citing sustainability as a factor.

The Embrace closure incorporates protective features intended to resist side impacts and accidental opening during shipment. E-Simplicity uses a visible tear band and back-off resistant thread to provide tamper evidence while eliminating liners and shrink bands. Future Disc Top is manufactured entirely from polyethylene, making it compatible with recycling streams when paired with PE or PET bottles, while E-Disc Top integrates a concealed locking mechanism designed to maintain product security throughout distribution.

Maria Vázquez-Ricote, Market Leader BPH at Aptar Closures, said: “Today’s packaging must perform across every stage of the journey, from manufacturing and fulfillment to delivery and consumer use.” She added that brands are increasingly seeking packaging that reduces excess materials while performing reliably throughout the e-commerce supply chain.
