Comexi expands Girona manufacturing site to raise flexible packaging machinery capacity by more than 40%

Comexi has expanded its manufacturing facilities in Riudellots de la Selva, Girona, Spain, increasing production capacity by more than 40% to support its flexible packaging printing and converting machinery operations.

The company inaugurated the enlarged site on 6 June 2026 during an event attended by employees, their families and Catalan Minister for Business and Labour Miquel Sàmper. Local and regional representatives also attended, including Riudellots mayor Josep Maria Santamaria, La Selva County Council president Martí Pujals and Girona Provincial Council president Miquel Noguer.

The €8 million expansion adds approximately 5,000 square metres to the Girona operation, bringing the area dedicated to manufacturing to 30,000 square metres. Comexi said the additional space will enable it to optimise industrial processes and increase machinery production capacity.

The project also brings the company’s research, development and innovation activities together with the operations of its three divisions under one roof. The consolidation is intended to improve coordination between technical development, manufacturing and operational teams serving the flexible packaging sector.

Comexi reported revenue exceeding €187 million for its 2025 financial year and a workforce of more than 600 employees. The company operates two manufacturing plants, located in Girona and Montenegro, Brazil, alongside offices in Miami, Bangkok and Monterrey. It is represented in more than 100 countries.

The Girona expansion follows Comexi’s continued development of equipment and services for flexible packaging printing and converting. Its activities cover printing presses, laminating and coating equipment, slitting and reel-handling systems, digital services and technical support.

The enlarged facility is expected to provide additional production space while centralising product development and manufacturing functions at the Spanish headquarters.

The announcement followed completion of the expansion and opening of the additional production space.
