Epson launches ColorWorks CW-D3800 and Label Boost suite for on-demand colour packaging labels

Epson has introduced the ColorWorks CW-D3800, a desktop colour label and badge printer designed for low-volume, on-demand label production across packaging, retail, healthcare and visitor management applications. The launch also includes the Label Boost software suite, expanding Epson’s in-house colour labelling offering for businesses requiring short-run production and variable label printing.

The CW-D3800 uses dye-based ink technology to produce colour labels on glossy media with resolutions of up to 600 x 1200 dpi. It supports roll and fanfold media from one to 4.25 inches wide and is intended for custom product, promotional, shipping and identification labels. Epson said the printer can integrate with existing workflows through compatibility with leading labelling software and development tools.

Alongside the printer, Epson introduced Label Boost Designer, Label Boost Concierge and Label Boost Shipper, software applications for label design, visitor badge printing and colour shipping labels respectively. The company said the software is intended to simplify in-house label production without requiring complex external systems.

Andrew Kim, product manager at Epson America, said: “An affordable, low-volume, on-demand color label printer isn’t just a convenience; it solves some real constraints for businesses. The new CW-D3800 allows businesses to stay lean, adaptable and cost-conscious while presenting a professional, high-quality brand.”

Epson said the printer is intended to help organisations produce labels when required, reducing dependence on pre-printed inventory while supporting changing packaging, promotional and identification requirements. The release states the system targets small businesses seeking flexible colour label production for seasonal products, private labels, food packaging, logistics, retail identification and compliance applications. The software suite accompanies the printer as part of Epson’s ColorWorks labelling portfolio expansion globally.
