HERMA has launched its Essential Line of self-adhesive label materials for price-sensitive standard applications, offering paper- and film-based options for food packaging, cosmetics, shipping cartons, logistics and other common uses.
The range is intended for label printers seeking lower-cost materials where additional performance features are not required. According to HERMA, the products retain established adhesives and backing materials from its existing portfolio and are manufactured and finished on the company’s existing production lines.
“In many cases it is sufficient for a self-adhesive material to have good properties for flexographic printing without also needing to be suitable for UV inkjet. Nor does the level of opacity in paper labels always need to be the highest possible,” said Hendrik Kehl, Product Manager at HERMA.
He added: “Without features not required in the application, the Essential line becomes a compelling economic proposition, particularly for highly price-sensitive projects.”
The initial range includes HERMAtherm top el, type 922; HERMAtherm eco el, type 901; and HERMAtherm PP el, type 827, for thermal applications such as variable data printing for food labelling. HERMA white el, type 602, is planned for paper-based logistics and dispatch labels, while HERMA PP white el, type 887, will cover standard film applications.
The “el” designation identifies materials within the Essential Line. Products are supplied in net width on 4,000-linear-metre rolls, including for smaller label runs.
“Our aim is to expand the Essential Line step by step and to offer label printers a cost-effective alternative for all key standard applications,” Kehl said.
HERMA said the range will also be supported by high product availability, short lead times and its existing customer advisory services. HERMA did not specify regional availability in the announcement.
