Kodak launches PROSPER Plus 5 in Rochester to add variable data printing to existing lines

Kodak announced the launch of its PROSPER Plus 5 Imprinting System in Rochester, New York, on October 5, 2026, enabling printers and converters to add variable data capabilities to existing presses and finishing lines.

Available worldwide, the system operates at 152 mpm (500 fpm) and uses KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology. It supports coding, serialization, personalization and versioning without requiring users to replace their production equipment.

The PROSPER Plus 5 offers 600 x 900 dpi resolution and flexible drop size options. Kodak lists packaging, direct mail, security printing, lottery and personal care among its intended applications.

The system uses KODAK EKTACOLOR Inks and incorporates the PROSPER Plus platform enhancements. According to Kodak, these changes are designed to improve serviceability, simplify connectivity and increase uptime in production environments. The company also cites enhanced reliability among the system’s features.

Alongside the launch, Kodak is renaming its PROSPER Plus 1/1W and PROSPER Plus 2/2W systems as PROSPER Plus 10 and PROSPER Plus 20, respectively. The names reflect production speeds of 305 mpm (1,000 fpm) and 609 mpm (2,000 fpm).

These systems, together with the KODAK PROSPER Print Bar, form the company’s range of imprinting options for printers and converters. Kodak said existing PROSPER S-Series customers would continue to receive full-service support, with upgrades available as production requirements change.

“This new addition to the PROSPER portfolio reflects our continued investment and ongoing commitment to the print industry,” said Laura Cole, VP, Pricing and Product Management, Kodak.

Kodak positions the new system as an addition to existing production assets for businesses seeking to respond to changing customer requirements. Its stated purpose includes extending the applications those assets can handle through personalization, traceability and variable content printing.
