Noon Food has introduced a series of illustrated paper delivery bags in the UAE, using the secondary food delivery pack as a printed communication format featuring five neighbourhoods served by the platform.
Called Art Bags by noon Food, the paper bags feature illustrations based on DIFC, Downtown, Jumeira, Motorcity and Al Raha. The individual designs incorporate landmarks and cultural references associated with each location, with a noon Food delivery rider included within the artwork.
Noon said it developed the concept after considering the short period for which a typical food delivery bag is used. The company said it distributes paper delivery bags thousands of times a day and wanted to create a format customers might retain after receiving their orders.
The resulting bags are intended to be kept, cut out, pinned up or reused, extending their function beyond carrying food orders from restaurants to consumers.
The project uses the printable exterior of the paper bag to combine transport packaging with location-specific graphics. Rather than changing the bag’s primary role in food delivery, the artwork adds a communication and reuse element to an established packaging format.
Omar Elkhayat of noon described the project separately as a collection of pop-art bags inspired by landmarks across Downtown, Jumeirah, Motor City, DIFC and Al Raha.
Noon has not disclosed technical specifications for the bags, including their paper grade, grammage, recycled content, printing technology, inks, dimensions or packaging supplier.
The Art Bags initiative demonstrates how an existing food-delivery packaging format can be used as a physical brand and communication surface while encouraging consumers to retain or reuse the pack after its initial delivery function has been completed.
