The Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority has launched an integrated logistics corridor with Oman Customs to improve cargo movement between Sharjah and Omani ports through land border crossings.
The corridor is intended to strengthen regional supply chains, improve trade flows and provide more logistics options for businesses. It covers several Omani ports, led by Sohar Port because of its proximity to the UAE, along with Duqm Port and Salalah Port. The ports together provide alternative routes for cargo movement between the UAE, Oman and wider markets.
The new corridor is connected to Sharjah’s existing logistics network, including its seaports on the eastern and western coasts. Khorfakkan Port remains part of this system as a regional maritime hub for cargo handling and container operations. The authority said the corridor does not replace existing maritime routes, but adds flexibility by linking sea and land transport.
Operations are being carried out through Sharjah’s land border crossings, mainly Khatmat Malaha in Kalba and Al Madam. Live operations began on Thursday, 14 May, after technical and coordination requirements were completed between the relevant authorities.
The first shipments were dispatched from Port Khalid to Sohar Port through Khatmat Malaha, marking the operational launch. Cargo movement in both directions has also started, supporting logistics integration between Sharjah and Oman.
The corridor includes operational and customs facilitation measures coordinated by Sharjah Customs and Omani Customs. Customs clearance can be completed directly at Sharjah’s border crossings, including Khatmat Malaha and Al Madam, without additional transfer stages. This is expected to reduce processing time, speed cargo release, lower land transport costs and improve overall cargo flow.
The system includes fast-track shipment lanes, pre-processing of data, direct transport under customs supervision, real-time data exchange and joint coordination. It is expected to support import, export and re-export activity for manufacturers, trading companies and free zone businesses. Future plans include adding air freight services.
