TCL Commits to Sustainable Packaging Practices in Efforts Towards Carbon Neutrality

Consumer electronics brand TCL has announced its commitment to increasing the use of sustainable packaging for its products as part of its larger goal to achieve carbon neutrality. The company unveiled its “Carbon Neutrality White Paper” at the 2023 TCL Global Ecosystem Partner Conference, outlining its plans for a greener economy.

With last year’s global shipment of 23.78 million TCL-branded smart TVs, TCL aims to incorporate eco-conscious materials into all aspects of its product design. The company plans to promote the use of soybean ink, recyclable paper, Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper packaging materials, and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) plastics that are recyclable.

Additionally, TCL has introduced new models of air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines that feature more environmentally friendly characteristics, aligning with its TCLGreen initiative, which focuses on promoting sustainable practices globally.

The “Carbon Neutrality White Paper” also highlights other important commitments, including the establishment of a TCL climate change working group and the implementation of a carbon-neutral planning chart to define roles, establish accountability, and ensure clear responsibilities across the business.

TCL aims to reach carbon peaking by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality in its operations by 2050. To accomplish these goals, the company has devised a three-step plan, which involves conducting a carbon investigation, achieving carbon peaking, and ultimately attaining carbon neutrality.

By prioritizing sustainable packaging practices and setting ambitious carbon reduction targets, TCL demonstrates its commitment to environmental stewardship and its determination to play a significant role in combating climate change.
