Tempo aims to manufacture bi-axially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film for flexible packaging for various industries.

Managing Director Seun Obasanjo said the company had progressed from producing egg trays to making nylon bags, paper cartons, cement woven bags and ordinary woven bags.

“We decided that we could venture into BOPP, which is the next higher level in the packaging industry, with encouragement and necessary financing,” he said.

“Going into BOPP as a pioneer in Nigeria and only surpassed by South Africa and Egypt was an article of faith, courage and belief in Nigeria.”

The project involved 85% funding through a loan from Commerz Bank of Germany guaranteed by the Zenith Bank of Nigeria, he added.
