Indian packaging manufacturer UFlex has commissioned two Boardmaster web flexographic printing presses supplied by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) at its new aseptic packaging facility in Ain Shokna, Egypt, as part of a $126 million investment.

The installation was announced by HEIDELBERG on 27 October 2026. The presses are operated by ASEPTO, UFlex’s division producing aseptic liquid packaging, including cartons for milk and other beverages.

According to the announcement, the two machines will support an additional annual production capacity of 12 billion aseptic packages. Combined capacity at UFlex’s facilities in India and Egypt will consequently reach 24 billion packages per year.

HEIDELBERG said its Boardmaster web flexographic printing system is designed for packaging production and can operate at speeds of up to 600 metres per minute. Its specified features include automated defect detection, automated job changes, process control and shorter makeready times. The manufacturer also reports machine availability of up to 90 percent.

Ashwani Sharma, President and CEO of ASEPTO, said the investment was based on the division’s operational and technology priorities. He said the equipment would help ASEPTO respond to customer requirements while maintaining production quality and performance standards.

The investment covers the establishment of the new Egyptian production facility, rather than solely the purchase of the two printing presses.

UFlex, headquartered in India, operates manufacturing facilities across several international markets, including Egypt. ASEPTO supplies packaging for liquid products, with the new site intended to serve the global market.

Dr David Schmedding, Chief Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG, also commented on the order, linking the investment to growing demand from Indian packaging manufacturers for industrial packaging printing equipment. The company identified India as an important market for its core printing business.
