Valley Water enhances production capacity with new PET plant in partnership with SMI

Valley Water’s new PET plant, a partnership with SMI, boosts production and sustainability.

Valley Water, a company operating in the Wadi El Natrun area, has recently invested in a state-of-the-art PET bottling plant to enhance its production capacity for 0.6 L and 1.5 L PET bottles. Partnering with SMI, a leading provider of bottling and packaging solutions, Valley Water aims to meet the high demand for its Elano water brand while ensuring efficiency and sustainability.

According to a company spokesperson, “To preserve the quality of Elano water and offer consumers a pure, uncontaminated, and healthy product, Valley Water pays great attention to every detail and invests in cutting-edge technologies.” The collaboration with SMI began in 2013 and has since expanded, with SMI supplying a complete line of 36,000 bottles/hour for bottling and packaging Elano water.

SMI’s involvement also extended to the restyling of the PET bottles, focusing on improving performance and sustainability. By redesigning the bottles, SMI’s designers were able to enhance their resistance and stability, optimizing the center of gravity and improving mechanical properties during filling. The new design, coupled with new molds for stretch-blowing, has made Valley Water’s packaging and palletizing process more efficient and sustainable.

Valley Water’s commitment to environmental sustainability is further demonstrated by its use of eco-compatible and recyclable PET bottles. The new bottling line supplied by SMI includes the latest green technologies, allowing for reduced environmental impact and significant energy savings. The system features an EBS 16 E ERGON stretch-blow moulder, a HEVF filling and capping system, a WP 600 ERGON case packer, an APS 3070 L ERGON palletizer, conveyor belts, labelling machine, encoder, and control systems.

The new system offers several advantages, including reduced energy consumption, precise management of stretch rod stroke, and easy format changeover. It also ensures high product quality and protection during transport, thanks to impact-resistant packaging. Valley Water’s investment in modern technologies reflects its commitment to meeting consumer demands for high-quality, sustainable bottled water.
