VerraPak plans AI-enabled packaging factory with integrated recycling by 2030

UAE packaging manufacturer VerraPak, formerly Sineo Packaging, part of AW Rostamani Group (AWR Group), is considering an artificial intelligence-enabled factory with integrated recycling by 2030, chief executive Hazem Moussa told Zawya Projects during WETEX 2026 in Dubai.

“The plan is to have a much bigger facility, a high-end Artificial Intelligence (AI)-run packaging factory by 2030 with a 100 percent in-house recycling facility, serving all the other business units in AWR,” Moussa said.

He declined to disclose further details, citing confidentiality. The company said its manufacturing activities remain focused on the UAE.

The disclosure followed AWR Group’s launch of VerraPak, formerly Sineo Packaging, as its packaging business’s new identity at WETEX 2026. VerraPak supplies packaging for food, hospitality and consumer applications, including recyclable and compostable products.

The manufacturer operates a 50,000-square-foot facility in Dubai Industrial City, with 15 high-speed production lines and annual capacity exceeding 400 million packaging units. It plans to increase capacity at the existing plant by 25% in early 2027.

Its manufacturing capabilities include seven-colour printing, private-label services and BRCGS Global Standard for Packaging Materials certification.

Moussa said production waste from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene packaging is recycled. PET scrap is returned to suppliers for new sheet production, with recycled waste accounting for 30% of the raw materials used. The company recycles all PET lid production waste and 5–10% of paper waste.

VerraPak is also working with Zayed University to test alternative biodegradable materials. Its Dubai plant uses solar power during its 12-hour daytime production shift.

Following supply disruptions, the company diversified raw-material sourcing beyond China to India, the United States and Europe, with road shipments arranged from Turkey. It continues exporting to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Tunisia and Morocco.
