BOBST has launched a redesigned MASTERFOLD folder-gluer platform for corrugated board converting, targeting converters that need faster setup, higher automation, improved operator safety and more consistent box production.
The modernised MASTERFOLD 170, 230 and 300 range updates BOBST’s flagship corrugated folding-gluing line with new digital, connectivity and automation capabilities. The launch forms part of the company’s wider strategy to extend connected and automated workflows across its equipment portfolio.
According to BOBST, the new platform is designed to reduce changeover time, simplify operation and improve production visibility. The machine is equipped with the HMI SPHERE interface and can be linked to the BOBST Connect data platform, allowing job data to be prepared remotely and downloaded to the machine.
Automated Matic setups support faster positioning of the main transport equipment, calibrating shaft and folding-section speed variator. Pneumatically locked feeder ramps and a fully Matic blank aligner further streamline feeder setup. BOBST said overall setup time can be reduced by up to 20 minutes, while automated transfer and delivery positioning can add up to 15 minutes of productive uptime on repeat jobs.
The MASTERFOLD line can also be integrated with peripherals including SPEEDPACK, ROBOLOADER and ROBOPALLETIZER for automated packing, blank loading and palletising.
For quality control, the machine supports stable blank transport, precise folding and gluing, optional liquid creasing, glue and fold control, and ACCUEJECT ejection to remove non-conforming boxes from production. These features are intended to reduce waste and avoid unnecessary returns.
BOBST said the redesigned machine also improves operator ergonomics and safety through command panels on each module, video-assisted operational feedback and safety light curtains. The new MASTERFOLD range is compatible with EU security standards due to take effect in 2027.
