Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG announced that it plans to integrate the lifecycle business and global sales and service subsidiaries of the manroland sheetfed Group, expanding service coverage for printing and packaging customers worldwide.
The transaction includes manroland sheetfed’s service and spare parts business, related intellectual property, selected assets, approximately 35 market organisations and about 600 employees. Heidelberg said the initial focus will be to maintain service and spare parts supply for existing manroland users and support the continued operation of installed systems.
The agreement gives Heidelberg responsibility for service and spare parts supply worldwide with immediate effect. The company said manroland customers will be integrated into its global service network, while familiar local contacts are generally expected to remain in place.
Jürgen Otto, CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, said the deal ensures that “the acquired manroland business can continue to operate reliably”. Heidelberg said the combination strengthens its role as a systems integrator and supports the supply of service and spare parts to manroland users worldwide.
Anthony Langley, chairman of the board and CEO of Langley Holdings plc, said the agreement ensures continuity in service and spare parts supply while integrating the business into a global organisation.
Heidelberg said the integration will support well over 3,000 manroland users worldwide and expand direct customer access. As part of the deal, Heidelberg is also securing the intellectual property for the Roland 900 and Cartonmaster in the large format sheetfed offset segment and is evaluating options for its production and further development.
Manroland users will also gain access to Heidelberg’s lifecycle services, consumables, Prinect workflow software, post press solutions and data driven services through its network in over 170 countries.
