Eviosys Launches ‘Ecopeel’, a Revolutionary New Dual Product of Can and Peelable End

Eviosys, a leading global supplier of metal packaging, has unveiled a groundbreaking innovation – EcopeelTM. With two centuries of expertise and innovation behind it, Eviosys has introduced a pioneering concept: a processable food can featuring a sleek, peelable foil directly sealed onto the can body.

EcopeelTM represents a significant stride toward revolutionizing the packaging industry, promoting the broader adoption of metal packaging. One of its key attributes is the potential to reduce the carbon footprint of canned food items by an impressive 20%. This sustainable solution aligns with the global shift away from plastic, while also prioritizing convenience and branding opportunities for both businesses and consumers.

The core focus of EcopeelTM is sustainability, convenience, and inclusivity. By replacing the conventional ring-pull with foil, EcopeelTM achieves a 20% reduction in carbon emissions per can. The innovative design includes a unique 45° sealing surface, which minimizes the force required for opening, and a smooth body with 100% aperture capability, effectively reducing food waste. This reflects Eviosys’ mission to make metal packaging accessible to a wider audience, building upon the success of their other industry-leading products like OrbitTM.

EcopeelTM simplifies processes for customers, as cans are delivered with the foil pre-sealed, requiring brands only to fill and seam the can. This not only speeds up the filling process by a factor of five but also enhances cleanliness and safety, reducing spoilage and energy consumption. Furthermore, it offers increased customization options, enabling product differentiation on store shelves through can printing.

Eviosys has collaborated closely with long-standing customers such as Jealsa and Friscos, and is in discussions with other European customers to expand the EcopeelTM range into sectors such as pâté, pet food, and olives.

Tomas Lopez, CEO at Eviosys, commented on this transformative packaging solution, saying, “At our core, we are committed to transforming the packaging sector through innovation to enable a truly circular economy. With Ecopeel™, we can offer our customers this transformed packaging experience.”

Jesus Alsonso, CEO at Jealsa, emphasized the importance of working with innovative partners for sustainable supply chain choices, stating, “Ecopeel™ sets a new standard for inclusive, accessible, sustainable, and innovative food packaging, and allows consumers to enjoy all of our high-quality products with ease.”

Earlier this year, Eviosys launched a new line of 3-piece rectangular tinplate cans, weighing 190g & 340g, in Türkiye leveraging their proficiency in unconventional can shapes.

With a vast manufacturing footprint spanning Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Eviosys operates in 44 facilities across 17 countries in the region, boasting 7,000 employees. In 2022, the company achieved a revenue of €2.7 billion.
