IFFCO Group Expands Condiments Production Capacity in the Middle East with Sidel’s PET Lines

SIDEL has tailored the complete line around IFFCO’s best-selling equipment, strategically placed at each crucial stage of the packaging process.

IFFCO Group, based in the UAE, plans to boost its condiments production capacity by deploying Sidel’s PET lines in the UAE and establishing a new facility in Iraq. Entrusting Sidel with the turnkey project, IFFCO Group aims to achieve maximum efficiency.

Andrey Dribny, CEO of IFFCO Group  said, “This will be the first factory in Iraq to produce highest quality mayonnaise ketchup and sauces.”

IFFCO Group, operating in over 100 countries and offering a wide range of leading FMCG brands, is committed to innovation, convenience, and sustainability. Recognizing the increasing consumer demands in Iraq, the company inaugurated its first factory in Baghdad, dedicated to producing high-quality condiments.

Pradhip Maharaj, Head of packaging development at IFFCO commented, “Up until now we have been exporting our wet condiments to the market but we saw a need to produce product locally so it will be a range of our tomato ketchups and our mayonnaises in various pack sizes and various bottle designs.”

Sidel’s involvement has been crucial in providing comprehensive solutions for IFFCO’s factories in Iraq and the United Arab Emirates. Their impressive capacity of up to 9,000 bottles per hour (bph) and flexibility in handling different bottle designs, caps, and labels have significantly improved overall efficiency. The compact blow/fill/cap Combi solution integrates Serac’s weight filler for accurate filling, while the preferential heating technology optimizes PET distribution. The AQFlex® system ensures bottle integrity during transfer to the labeller, while the Cermex WB46 case packer excels in case squaring and sealing. The RoboAccess robotic palletiser enhances end-of-line efficiency with its exclusive gripping tool for handling cases, interlayers, and pallets.

Dribny explained, “The project management was commendable, and our collaboration proved effective in overcoming challenges. By partnering with Sidel, we benefit from their impeccable service, consistent reliability, and exceptional quality, which are vital for our daily operations. Sidel’s remarkable capacity allows them to meet IFFCO’s requirements seamlessly, regardless of location, circumstances, or market segment.”

Sidel has also supported IFFCO Group in redesigning their current bottle range to enhance convenience and sustainability. The new bottle designs, developed with material saving and reduced environmental impact in mind, aim to provide an easy-to-hold and visually appealing experience for consumers. Further measures, including light-weighting and utilizing r-PET (recycled PET), are being explored.

Maharaj explained, “Sidel helped us in taking an existing design that has been in the market for a long time and contemporise It. Tomato ketchup and mayonnaise has a typical packaging format as glass so moving to PET brought a lot of benefits.”

Dribny concluded by affirming IFFCO Group’s commitment to sustainability and their confidence in Sidel’s pioneering position in the field. The company plans to rely on Sidel’s technological support, knowledge, and expertise to navigate their path forward.
